Welcome to Goxhill Church

The village of Goxhill is a widespread but rapidly expanding residential community for two thousand inhabitants of all ages. There is a village primary school and there are also residential and nursing homes in the village. The Methodist Church was built before the turn of the century and is in generally good condition.. The morning services are in the Chapel, which can accommodate two hundred people. The Ladies Rendezvous Club meets monthly. The Church endeavours to play an active part in the community, e.g. a regular luncheon club. The annual Open Gardens event is supported by a large number of people. The School Room is frequently used for children's parties. There is a meeting for children on a Friday after school and this is the equivalent of a Sunday School, it is ecumenical and there is a family service on the first Sunday of each month in the Church and on the third Sunday in the Chapel. Relations with the Anglicans are very good and there are joint meetings to plan such events as Christmas, Easter and the Share Jesus Mission (held in August 2001). In addition there is a monthly luncheon club and an annual 'Horse & Rider' service which raises money for riding for the disabled.

Young people of junior and senior school ages are involved in J Team and Dynamos after school clubs.
The chapel premises provide an open door for village people of all ages in a variety of church based and
other social activities and gatherings.
Among the regular events organised by members - Chums of the Chapel - are Whist Drives on the first
and third Saturday of every month, and the annual Open Gardens and flower festival on the third Sunday
every June, which is always a very popular occasion.
MAG – Methodists and Anglicans in Goxhill involves a group of people committed to monthly prayer
meetings, organising worshipping and socialising together on a regular basis, caring for the community
through making contact with those living in residential homes, home bereavement visits and children’s
groups. As Churches Together they also arrange regular quizzes in the Chapel Schoolroom.
