The residential community of Ulceby is some three miles from the refinery
complex and is home for almost one thousand five hundred people. There
is a local primary school and play group as well as group dwellings for
the elderly. The local Anglican Church is active in the community. The
Seventh Day Adventists also meet each fortnight in Ulceby. The village
has benefited from growth and plans have been approved for further development.
The Methodist Church was built in 1907 and is in very good condition, there
are no current plans for future development at the Church, but a new kitchen
has been added in recent years. The Church can seat one hundred and fifty people
and the Sunday School offers further accommodation. The premises are used by
the community for Parish Meetings, an Art Club etc
The Sunday Morning Service at Ulceby is usually well attended, and the Sunday
School has been restarted as a result of the Share Jesus Mission. There is
a mid-week club for young people. There is a fortnightly ecumenical Women's
Fellowship and a monthly 60's Circle, which caters for the elderly living in
a block of flats and bungalows. There are very close relations with the Anglicans
and apart from the two meetings just referred to there is a monthly luncheon
club held at the vicarage, and regular meetings to plan such things as the
'Share Jesus Mission' held in August 2001.
